Thorsten Uebe-Emden has been part of the Thomas team for 14 years. The trained wholesale and export merchant joined Thomas by “a happy coincidence”, he recalls, and has not regretted his decision since.
There are many reasons for this: Firstly, there is the job itself. Thorsten started out in internal sales, then took a long period of parental leave and has been working as a Supply Chain Management Specialist since 2017. Among other things, he prepares controlling data visually and makes it available to colleagues in dashboards. Establishing and constantly improving things is something the family man enjoys. That’s why he undertook further training last year and completed intensive training in the Six Sigma improvement management system – successfully, of course.
However, being there for his children is just as important to him. Thomas‘ flexibility and the opportunity to work remotely are ideal for him. If something needs to be done with his children, he is on site. He can pick them up, look after them and stay at home if necessary. After all, he can continue to work at home. Knowing that gives him security. As do the social benefits and, of course, the colleagues in the team, who make him feel completely at ease.
Thorsten has no worries of having contact with the microphone. He has been playing the trumpet since his early years and learned to play the electric bass and a bit of guitar. He regularly performs on stage and entertains the audience with his fellow musicians. His job also benefits from this experience: He has no problems speaking or presenting in front of people. And conversely, he can even use his professional skills for his hobby: As the first chairman of a musical society, he has to plan, draw up budgets and much more – his Excel skills come into play here too.
If you want to know where Thorsten sees the biggest challenges in the coming years and why he thinks it’s important to keep developing: Just listen in, it’s worth it!
