ABOUT THOMAS // PRESS RELEASE

The system concept is catching on in the construction machinery industry, with electrohydraulic systems that promise even greater autonomy, precision, efficiency, connectivity, and monitoring finding more and more uses. As well as showcasing its whole range of off-highway solutions at Booth 168 in Hall N4, therefore, Thomas will also be focusing particularly on state-of-the-art highlights such as its Electromechanical Actuator (EMA), Electrohydraulic Actuator (EHA 2.0), Compact Pilot Actuator (CPA), and Integrated Pilot Head (IPH).

EMA and EHA: smart integration

The EMA and EHA will be of particular interest to visitors seeking solutions for construction machinery, cranes, or steering applications that place high demands on system safety. This is because both products are equipped with integrated intelligence that feeds the system status back to the higher-level system and thus supplies key information for operations. They are CAN-controlled and boast fast response times, a high degree of precision, and evenness in their movement control. The EMA is particularly well suited as a smart pilot controller for small to midsize machinery because it enables compact machine design, makes commissioning and maintenance easier, and combines maximum precision with lower overall machine operating costs.

IPH and CPA: more scope for manufacturers

Also at the center of attention in Shanghai will be two proportional pressure-reducing valves, the IPH (Integrated Pilot Head) and CPA (Compact Pilot Actuator), which likewise offer unbeatable efficiency and precision. The IPH allows OEMs to build even more compact machines thanks to its unique patented design complete with integrated valve sleeve, while the CPA enables the design of more slimline main control valves as well as making the installation process much faster. To meet our customers’ requirements as fully as possible, both products were designed specifically with the latest trends within the construction machinery market in mind and with an eye on compact machines.

PPCD09 and PPCP09: clutch control you can rely on

Last but not least, the highlights at Thomas’s booth at the trade show will also include its range of valves for clutch control systems, chief among them the PPCD09 and PPCP09. Their many benefits include their compactness and resistance to dirt as well as their minimal hysteresis and high vibrational stability, ensuring optimum reliability and precision. The changes under way within the market mean that new and more productive technologies and systems are now needed, and Thomas designed and developed its range of valves for clutch control systems in order to meet the most stringent requirements out there. The company also provides outstanding customer support for the off-highway market. Helping customers with ongoing developments, aligning the product portfolio exactly with customers’ applications, and organizing training and consultations are all key parts of the company’s customer relationship management.

“Thomas runs its own factory in Kunshan and has a local sales office in Shanghai,” explains Xianfeng Zhuo, General Manager at Thomas China. “We have strong roots in the Chinese market, know what our customers need, and keep our production local. We are following our “local to local” and “local to global” strategy to ensure our sustainable growth in the Chinese market.” He says that close working relationships with distributors based on trust are also extremely important: “This is why we’re delighted that two of them – Burker Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. and Linzhi (Shanghai) Drive Technology Co., Ltd. – will be using our booth at bauma in Shanghai to exhibit hydraulic blocks fitted with Thomas valves. We’re looking forward to the trade show, to meeting people, and to engaging in lots of fruitful discussions.”
